Frank Angelo delivered a presentation on Long Range Planning for School Siting at the School and Community Policy Summit held in Salem, Oregon on January 21, 2009.
Frank Angelo was recently named as a Trustee for the Tualatin Hills Park Foundation. The Foundation develops resources that ensure access to recreation for all Park District residents.
Frank Angelo is on the Board of Directors
for the Westside Economic Alliance. The Westside Economic
Alliance focuses on the needs of the west side of the Portland metropolitan
region in order to create an environment conducive to business growth
and to promote and enhance the image and visibility of the area as
an economic development locale.
Frank Angelo is a citizen representative on Metro’s
Transportation Policy Advisory Committee (TPAC). TPAC reviews regional
transportation planning issues and provides technical and policy recommendations
to Metro’s Joint Policy Advisory Committee on Transportation
(JPACT).
Frank Angelo served on Intel’s
Oregon Community Advisory Panel (CAP). CAP provides a direct forum
for discussing with members of the community Intel’s environmental
efforts, health and safety record, and site development plans.
DJ Heffernan is an Oregon Youth Rugby Association
U-19 referee and is the Youth Development Director for the Pacific
Northwest Division of the North American County Board Gaelic Athletic
Association, which promotes the development of traditional Irish sports
in North America.
As part of the Portland Bicycle Committee, Shayna Rehbeg assisted
with the preparation of an ODOT grant application for a bikeway/roadway
project on Portland Boulevard in the I5/Portland Boulevard interchange
vicinity.

WTS CAREER FAIR
Katherine Prew and Rebecca Dann hosted the Angelo Planning Group booth at the March 2010 WTS
Career Fair at which approximately 16 companies or agencies were represented. The event was well attended by students from PSU and OSU.
2010 AICP STUDENT PROJECT AWARD
The MURP workshop project, "No Vacancy! Exploring Temporary Use of Empty Space in the Central Eastside Industrial District", developed by Rebecca Dann, Briana Meier, Emily Rice and Beth Somerfield - all graduates of the 2009 MURP program at PSU - garnered the 2010 AICP Student Project Award in the category of Contribution of Planning to a Contemporary Issue. The AICP award recognizes outstanding class projects by student groups in accredited planning programs. The project investigated the potential to enliven Portland's Central Eastside Industrial District by activating vacant spaces with temporary uses. Greening Your Code at the
2008 Planning Conference — Making Great Communities Happen.
Shayna Rehberg is serving as a member of the
Columbia River Crossing Ped Bike Advisory Committee.
Angelo Planning Group, along with the Oregon Department
of Transportation, received the Oregon Chapter of the American Planning
Association's 2005 Special Achievement in Planning Award for their Trip
Cap Measures Cookbook. APG was asked to help ODOT Region
3 prepare a "cookbook" to aid communities in managing land
use impacts on transportation facilities. Of special concern was
the impact of development near freeway interchanges with limited
capacity. APG was the principal author for the cookbook, which outlines
trip allocation and trip cap programs. The book also includes "recipes" that
offer step-by-step directions for implementing the solutions outlined
in the cookbook. The book is the only one of its kind in the United
States.
DJ Heffernan led a team who completed
a project for ODOT documenting Oregon's process to select projects
for the Statewide Transportation Plan (STIP). The project was nominated
for a Federal Highway Administration award.
