Zoning Ordinances
Angelo Planning Group is a leader in working with local governments to prepare development codes and zoning ordinances. In the last four years our staff has worked with over 20 jurisdictions in Oregon and Washington to edit, revise, or totally replace existing zoning ordinances. A large part of this work has been through the Transportation and Growth Management (TGM) “Code Assistance” program under which we have worked with 17 communities on code update projects supported by state grants. Additionally, we have developed code language that supports the “implementation” phases of natural resource or transportation policy projects. We have a thorough understanding of the process of working with local advisory committees, Planning Commissions, and elected officials to develop and revise code, summarize policy issues, and secure adoption of new code language.
APG’s expertise in code assistance includes:
- Facilitating the iterative process of reviewing and revising draft
code language with technical and community advisory committees
- Updating elements of local development codes to comply with Oregon’s
Statewide Land Use Planning Goals, including Goal 5 – Natural
Resources and Goal 12 – Transportation
- “Auditing” development codes to allow local communities
and staff a chance to prioritize code revisions and review efficiency
of current code procedures
- Working with local jurisdictions to update their codes to implement the principles of “Smart Development”
